- recognise the presence of major illnesses and provide appropriate first aid (including heart attack, stroke, epilepsy, asthma, diabetes).
This course now includes a practical, automated external defibrillator (AED) training session using trainer AEDs.
This will be by ongoing assessment with both theory and practical sessions and confirmation through knowledge checks to ensure all learning outcomes are met to the required standard.
Must hold a valid First aid at work certificate and produce this at the start of the course (There can be a 28 day grace after the certificate has expired)
Selected HSE first aiders should physically able to perform the relevant actions and techniques included in the syllabus. Reasonable adjustments can be made for disabilities contact VTS.
This course requires close contact with other delegates and first aid manikins and contains videos and images of injuries appropriate to the subject.
