The Driver CPC is a scheme for LGV (and PCV drivers) who drive professionally throughout the UK. It is being developed as a requirement of the EU Directive 2003/59, which is designed to improve the knowledge and skills of professional LGV and PCV drivers throughout their working life. Values Training Services has been accredited by JAUPT (Joint Approvals unit for Periodic Training) to deliver first aid training for both PCV & LGV drivers. Our courses have been carefully designed to include all the elements of the drivers CPC syllabus as defined by JAUPT.

Qualification

Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (Driver CPC)

Our courses have been carefully designed to include all the elements of the drivers CPC syllabus as defined by JAUPT. It is compliant under the Health and Safety (First-aid) Regulations 1981. Taught in accordance with current guidelines on adult basic life support published by the Resuscitation Council (UK), and for other aspects of first aid, in accordance with current guidelines published by the Voluntary Aid Societies and other published guidelines that are supported by a responsible body of medical opinion. The training and assessment will be delivered in accordance with currently accepted standards for first-aid practice and follow the skills for health assessment principles for first aid qualifications. This also meets the requirements of your own needs assessment.

Course Content

Our courses have been carefully designed to include all the elements of the drivers CPC syllabus as defined by JAUPT.In addition to the topics covered on an emergency first aid at work course, on completion of training, successful candidates will be able to:
administer first aid to a casualty with:
injuries to bones, muscles and joints, including suspected spinal injuries
chest injuries
eye injuries
sudden poisoning
anaphylactic shock
recognise the presence of major illnesses and provide appropriate first aid (including heart attack, stroke, epilepsy, asthma, diabetes).
This course now includes a practical, automated external defibrillator (AED) training session using trainer AEDs.

ASSESSMENT

This will be by ongoing assessment with both theory and practical sessions and conformation through knowledge checks to ensure all learning outcomes are met to the required standard.

Pre-requisites

Driving licence must be produced. Selected HSE first aiders should physically able to perform the relevant actions and techniques included in the syllabus. For reasonable adjustments for disabilities please contact VTS
